Over the years, Lathwell & Associates has been involved in numerous fundraising campaigns for independent schools and charities, helping to raise millions of pounds for capital projects and other initiatives. This experience came in very handy for our local community in Mid Devon recently.
Cove Village Hall is the only social meeting place for the residents of Cove, near Tiverton, and its regular folk concerts, cinema club and annual puppet show have proved very popular - while its New Year and Cider Making parties are legendary! However, before the current committee became active, the Hall had been badly neglected for a number of years: consequently, the fabric of the building desperately needs repairs, and the kitchen is unfit for purpose.
It had become clear that the £20,000 required to save the Hall could not be raised quickly enough through fundraising events alone.
We simply had to help! By breaking down the requirements into bite-sized projects and tapping into local and national donor seams, we've managed to secure £16,750 for the Hall in just a few months: £9,000 from Awards for All, £1,000 from our local County Councillor Polly Colthorpe, £1,750 from various local charitable trusts (which wish to remain anonymous) and £5,000 from Viridor Credits. Along with money raised through various social activities, the Hall now has sufficient funds to appoint a builder and order a shiny, new kitchen. Work should commence within a few weeks, and we can't thank our donors enough.
The cider is being bottled for the celebration party, so line your stomachs and come on down!
